CHALLENGE

Whilst the paradigm shift towards lifelong learning in Singapore has been widely promoted in recent years, the business community did not fully appreciate the need to embrace it.

As the national centre of excellence in learning, practice, and research for Continuing Education and Training, the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) needed to position itself more strongly and define its role in helping the CET sector and enterprises navigate the changes more effectively.

SOLUTION

Working closely with SkillsFuture Singapore, IAL will set standards for the professionalisation of the CET sector in Singapore, to increase capacity and enhance capability for enterprises and the community.

The IAL's role would be to unleash the potential of continuing education by developing a growing community of CET practitioners and organisations that recognise the strategic merit of ongoing professional development & the value of research – through workplace-based learning with an emphasis on practical application and business solutions.

IMPACT

The Institute for Adult Learning is now clearly positioned as an Institute for SkillsFuture Singapore, providing certification, training, research and thought leadership to enterprises and trainers.
